题 目:Generative AI (GAI), Memorization and Their Social Impact
主讲人:Dr. Xiaozhong Liu, Associate Professor at Computer Science and Data Science, WPI
主持人:贺国秀,信息管理系晨晖学者
内容简介:Generative AI (GAI) along with recent memorization technologies have demonstrated human-level performance on a vast spectrum of tasks. However, recent studies have also delved into the potential threats and vulnerabilities posed by GAI, particularly as they become increasingly prevalent in sensitive domains such as healthcare and education. Further exploration is imperative to comprehend the risks and concerns associated with GAI across diverse societal contexts. In this talk, I aim to dissect the impact and risks posed by GAI on our social fabric, examining both technological and societal perspectives. Additionally, I will present our latest investigations, including the large language models (LLMs) memorization and personalization. These insights will serve as catalysts for stimulating discussions among the audience on this crucial subject matter, and contribute to fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of responsible development and deployment of GAI technologies.
主讲人简介:Dr. Xiaozhong Liu is an Associate Professor at Computer Science and Data Science, WPI, also affiliate professor at Indiana University. His research interests include natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLM), text/graph mining, information retrieval/recommendation, metadata, and computational social science. His dissertation at Syracuse University explored an innovative ranking method that weighted the retrieved results by leveraging dynamic community interests. His recent research is focusing on AI explainability/trustworthiness, natural language generation via deep learning, cybercrime/security, and human-centric data heterogeneity. While active in academia, his research also extends to industry, e.g., he was senior consultant and NLP research director at Alibaba DAMO Academy and led a number of prestigious projects the most cutting-edge and market-driven topics.
